JOB TITLE:   ISS Direct Support Staff Full-Time (32.50 Hours)      

Caring Matters will be hiring 1 Full-Time (32.50) ISS Day Program Direct Support Staff. The work schedule is as follows:

Monday – Friday: 8:30 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.

  • Applicants must have a valid Texas Driver’s License and a clear Motor Vehicle Report (MVR)
  • Hourly Wage: $10.60 per hour

FLSA STATUS:   Non-Exempt

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES

  1. Assisting individuals in overall participation in Day Program activities, while promoting the achievement of maximum independence;
  2. Assisting individuals in acquiring, retaining, and improving self-help, socialization, and adaptive skills necessary to function successfully in the community;
  3. Providing individuals with age-appropriate activities that enhance self-esteem and maximize functional level;
  4. Providing training and support activities which promote the individual’s integration and participation in the community;
  5. Providing assistance for the individual who cannot manage his or her personal care needs during day program activities;
  6. Implementing all treatment plans as determined and designated by the individual and IDT (i.e., Individual Support Plans, Training Objectives, Behavior Support Strategies, etc.);
  7. Assistance with medications and performance of Nurse-delegated tasks during day program;
  8. Supervision of individual’s safety and security during day program;
  9. Advocating for individual’s rights;
  10. Promoting positive self-concept through encouragement and positive reinforcement;
  11. Communicating significant factors regarding each individual’s treatment to the person designated to coordinate services for the individual(s); and
  12. Documenting individual’s daily activities, as well as recording progress of lack of progress pertaining to objectives and goals.

WORKSKILLS

EXPERIENCE

  1. 18 years of age
  2. Valid Driver’s License with a good driving record
  3. Previous experience working with individuals with disabilities (preferred)

QUALIFICATIONS

HS Diploma or Equivalent

PHYSICAL DEMANDS 

This position may require high physical demands such as bending, lifting, and stretching (i.e., supporting adults in bathing, changing adult briefs, lifting/transferring non-ambulatory individuals)
